My dish is hilachas.  That is a traditional dish in my country, but especially in my family.  The dish is a kind of sauce with meat and potatoes.  

Somebody in the family says that it is too hard to cook it.  That’s right.  To make this dish, we have to be in the kitchen like two hours.  Without rest.  Sometimes, some people sell it in restaurants. 

The hilachas make me happy because I remember my birthday.  On my tenth birthday I ate that dish for the first time.  But I miss my food right now.

 



1 pound of meat (beef)
1 pound of potatoes (not too big)
6 tomatos
1 green pepper
1 onion
miltomatos
1 clove of garlic
some salt

blender

Heat the meat with 1 onion (heat it in a pot with 2 or 3 cups of water and some salt).  Next, put in the garlic. 

Next, heat the tomatoes with some water (2 or 3 cups). 

Then put all the ingredients together in the blender and liquify. 

When this is ready add all these ingredients and add the meat.  Add 2 cups of water and about one cup of flour. 

 

Heat it with low fire for 10 or 15 minutes, but do not put the lid on top. 

Finally, check it if it is ready and then eat it.  We can eat it with rice, but do not eat it without tortillas.
